Spring is on our doorstep, and with it comes a sense of hope. Despite recent global events, the arrival of the new season and its colourful cherry blossom can serve as a reminder that as time passes, we will come out the other side.

At the time of writing, Vancouver’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival (April 2-26) has seen many of its events cancelled but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the wondrous beauty of the blossom in small (social distancing friendly) groups!

We’ve had the honor of sharing with you our top spots in the city of Vancouver to feast your eyes on for some of nature’s finest candy.

1. Stanley Park

There are rows of cherry blossom trees here near the formal rose garden and, rather fittingly, by the Japanese Canadian World War I memorial.

The mayors of Kobe and Yokohama gifted hundreds of Japanese cherry trees to Vancouver as a way of commemorating the loss of life in both nations during the war.

Usually this would be the site for the Cherry Blossom Festival, but even without the festival going ahead it’s a great spot to see some pink and white. Perfect spot for a date or a lone, self-isolation-style walk.

3. VanDusen Botanical Garden

What a wonderful way for some vibrancy and colour to be brought into the corporate world. Right outside Burrard Station you’ll find yourself ceilinged by an awning of natural beauty.

Another fantastic residential spot that gives your snaps an instant upgrade. Rich pinks against bright blue skies for the color pop we all dream of.

7. Vancouver City Hall

The city hall of any town is used for all kinds of official events and engagements, so how wonderful that once a year there’s a fabulous injection of pink thrown in. Imagine how great it’d be to be snapped walking out of that door having just got married, with the cherry blossoms out in full bloom.

8. Garry Point Park

Who wouldn’t enjoy a picturesque stroll through Richmond’s Garry Point Park at any time of the year? It’s always beautiful. So when cherry blossom season comes around it gets ramped up a notch.

9. Nitobe Memorial Garden, UBC

This garden was brought about by Dr Nitobe, who wanted to bridge the gap between cultures of the East and West. This garden is very traditionally Japanese and has a tearoom for ceremonies where people from around the world are invited to exchange cultures. The nature is stunning, including of course, cherry blossom trees.

Another train station snap spot, this time oh so essentially Canadian, and more specifically of Vancouver. Catch the North Shore Mountains alongside the Canadian Place sails and you’re all set up. And at this time of year you’ve got the bonus of the pink blossom.
