Our top 5 Alberta online casinos for September 2025
While PlayAlberta is the only government-run option for online gambling in the province, there are plenty of international casino sites that welcome Alberta players, too.
Our recommended casinos below have all been verified for licensing and regulation, offering a safe alternative outside of the province. They all bring something different to the table, from unique games to valuable casino bonuses. Check out why they made the cut below:
🌟 Best casino in Alberta | Spinbara |
💸 Best casino for jackpot slots
📱 Best casino for mobile players
💰 Best casino for welcome bonus
🎰 Best casino for top-rated games |
Spinbara
RTP 98.23%
Best casino in AlbertaWelcome offer 300% up to $5,000 + 350 Free Spins + 1 Claw Machine
Despite launching a matter of months ago, Spinbara has made a real splash and, for my money, is probably the best alternative to PlayAlberta.
The site is clean and nicely designed. And with 21,000+ slots and table games (compared with 14,000 for its nearest rival Just Casino), Spinbara is the best stocked casino in Alberta by some distance.
The welcome package is appealing too, offering a matched bonus of 300% up to $5,000, plus 350 free spins.
If the minimum deposit was a more reasonable $10 rather than $30, I’d have been even more impressed. But that aside, for me, this is the best Alberta online casino right now, bar none.
Pros
Vast choice of games
Decent welcome bonus
Very competitive RTP
Cons
Game selection is so vast, it's hard to know where to start
$30 minimum deposit requirement
LuckyWins
RTP 98.20%
Best for jackpot slotsWelcome offer Up to $8,000 + 500 Free spins
If you like slots, you know that free spins are one of the most underrated casino bonuses. Not only do they allow you to play your favourite games for free, you can discover new titles with no pressure too.
Lucky for you, LuckyWins is one of the best Alberta online casinos for free spins. You can claim up to 500 free spins when you create your account as a part of the $8,000 welcome bonus. Once your account is set up, you’ll be enrolled in the LuckyWins loyalty program, which gives you even more free spins every time you move up to a new tier.
Bonuses aside, LuckyWins’ game library of 10,000+ titles is deeper and, by my reckoning, perhaps even more varied than its big-name rivals, Jackpot City and Spin Casino. It also scores highly with me for its large, progressive jackpots and instant withdrawals.
To get an even better rating from OnlineCasino.ca, we’d like to see a lower minimum deposit (it’s currently $30, compared to $20 at most Alberta operators), and the addition of telephone-based customer support. But for now, this is a really good casino that’s well worth your time.
Pros
10,000+ games
VIP program
Generous free spins bonuses
Fast withdrawals
Cons
Limited live dealer games
No casino app
Few withdrawal options
RoboCat
RTP 97.85%
Best casino for mobile playersWelcome offer 100% up to $10,000 + 300 Free Spins
RoboCat Casino is a new betting site with a fast-growing reputation. New players will be able to claim a generous 100% deposit match promo after signing up. After that, you can bring in even more bonus bets through the weekend reload bonus and weekly 50 free spins offers.
Wagering requirements are 35x, which is pretty standard for Alberta casinos. But it’s worth noting that the 10-day time limit to be able to claim in full might be a bit too demanding for some casual players.
Beyond the bonuses, RoboCat really stands out for its banking options. It was super simple to use CAD and cryptocurrencies.
The minimum deposit is relatively low for both, too, so it was great not to be forced into one payment method over another because of a high minimum limit.
The games' selection of 5,000+ (including 100 exclusives and 63 live-dealer titles) qualifies RoboCat as a well-stocked casino. That’s way out in front of Spin Casino, for instance, which comes in at a relatively compact 800 titles.
However, it’s nowhere near Alberta’s biggest operators, such as Spinbara and LuckyWins which find room for 21,000+ and 10,000+ games respectively.
Pros
9,000+ casino games
Huge $10,000 welcome package
Great selection of jackpot slots
Accepts popular crypto payment methods
Cons
Slower withdrawal times
High wagering requirement on all bonuses
New casino with small reputation
Casinova
RTP 98.10%
Best casino for welcome bonusesWelcome offer Up to $2,000
Casinova packs in over 9,000 games. That’s ten times the number you’ll find at Jackpot City and places it about mid-table in our current toplist, alongside RoboCat and LuckyWins.
What really impressed me about Casinova, though, is the sheer variety of games on offer. You’ll find a genuinely huge 320+ live dealer games here, which is way more than most operators in Canada. We also clocked some 110 instant win games like Cosmo X, and over 100 progressive slots.
The downside of having so many games is that it can make things hard to find. Something that isn’t helped by the lack of a filter for table games and bingo.
Getting started here was easy, though. Sign-up was fast. And unlike 888casino, I didn’t need to provide documents to become a customer and make a deposit.
If you like quizzes (and I certainly do), I think you’ll really enjoy the twice-weekly Live Trivia Game too, in which $4,500 is shared among the best and brightest players.
Pros
8,000+ online slots
Helpful customer support
Streamlined user interface
Over 160 live casino tables
Cons
40x wagering requirement
$30 minimum deposit requirement for bonus
No instant withdrawals
JustCasino
RTP 98.37%
Best for top-rated gamesWelcome offer 100% up to $5,000 + 400 Free spins
With over 14,000 online casino games, JustCasino is one of the biggest online casinos in the world. But let’s face it: no one has time to play all 14,000 games. Thankfully, JustCasino’s massive games library isn’t the only reason to play at this site.
Aside from speedy withdrawals, Alberta-friendly banking methods, there’s also a generous Space Club loyalty program that you’ll be automatically enrolled in as soon as you create your account. If you play consistently, you can also join the Galaxy program for even more VIP casino rewards.
The welcome bonus, which is split over five deposits, is generous too. I’d have preferred for the wagering requirements to be a bit more friendly to more casual players. At 40X, they’re slightly above the Canada average of 35x. But I’m impressed at the size of the bonuses on offer and the fact they get incrementally larger, as you wager more. And the 400 free spins don’t go amiss either.
In future, we’d like to see JustCasino bring a dedicated app to market. But for now, the mobile site, which is well-designed and pretty easy to navigate, will do just fine.
Pros
$5,000 welcome bonus
Generous VIP program
Massive casino games library
Fast withdrawals
Cons
High wagering requirements
Small selection of software providers
Complex welcome package
Best online casino games in Alberta
Alberta's online casinos have something for everyone, whether you're into spinning reels, strategizing at the blackjack table, or chatting with a live dealer. Slots are a big hit here, with endless themes and chances for major wins.
Table games like roulette and blackjack bring classic thrills, while video poker and live casino games keep things interactive and exciting. Alberta players can enjoy the mix of high payouts, variety, and engaging gameplay available whenever they want.
Check out some of the best online casino games for Alberta players below:
Popular online slots for Alberta players
Tiny Toads
- RTP 95.5%
- Bets $0.25 - $125
- Max win $500,000
I love a good, high-volatility slot. And Pragmatic Play’s Tiny Toads, which offers a max win of 4,000x your stake and RTP of 96.51%, is exactly that. I found the bonus feature added real spice to what at first sight looks just another animal-themed game. It’s also easy to play, but still offers lots of room to experiment with strategies for more seasoned players.
Our pick of the top 5 slot games
Online slots are by far the most popular type of online casino games in Alberta, as well as across Canada. Data from the Canadian Gaming Association shows that 72% of Canadian gamblers play online slots, compared with 59% that play table games or poker.
Slots dominate online play thanks to their engaging themes, large jackpots, and simple gameplay mechanics. From classic three-reel games to immersive video titles with complex features and progressive jackpots, there are online slot games to suit all tastes.
The best Alberta online casinos offer an extensive range of slot games, ensuring variety and excitement for all players. You can try them for free in our free games arcade.
Check out our top slot recommendations for Alberta players below:

Starbust - NetEnt
A personal favourite and an all-time staple of video slots, Starburst is known for its low volatility, vibrant graphics and its 5 reels and 10 paylines, paying both ways. The game features expanding wilds that trigger respins, providing frequent small wins. Bets range from $0.10 to $100, with a maximum win of 500 times the stake. The RTP is 96.09%, putting Starburst just above average for online slots. It's a great game for beginners.

9 Masks of Fire - Gameburger
Gameburger isn’t as well as known as Pragmatic Play and Apricot. But with more solid games of the pedigree of 9 Masks of Fire, that might not be the case for too much longer. In essence, this is an easy-to-grasp slot with clear bonus and straightforward paylines. The game’s RTP of 96.24% and the chance to win 2000x your stake keeps things exciting. It’s just a shame the soundtrack of jungle drums is so repetitive. But I can overlook that minor annoyance, given that this slot gets so much else right.

Buffalo - Aristocrat
With 1,024 ways to win and a max payout of up to 7,600x your bet, Buffalo is surely one of the best slots to win real money in Alberta. Although the visuals are a bit dated, Buffalo has a nice, uncluttered layout. With numerous paylines and low variance, this is a good choice for players who don’t want to risk too much but like the feeling of regular wins. Meanwhile, the bonus round and the promise of bigger wins is engaging enough to keep things exciting for anyone willing to up their stake a bit.

Gates of Olympus Super Scatter - Pragmatic Play
The Greek Gods may or may not smile on you in this life. But even if they don’t, Pragmatic Play’s high volatility Gates of Olympus Super Scatter is a really exciting ride while it lasts. That’s largely down to the 96.5 RTP rating and the chance to win a whopping 50,000x your bet. To keep things fresh for new players, this addition to the Gates of Olympus series features a new Super Scatter symbol that allows you to trigger free spins. I love this series and if you’re a fan, or even if you're not, you’re in for a good time here.

Book of Dead - Play'n GO
Ancient Egypt, Indiana Jones-style high adventure and engaging, high-volatility gameplay come together in this storied and ever-popular slot. Casting you as explorer Rich Wilde, Book of Dead features simple, beginner-friendly mechanics, alongside high-paying combos and bonus triggers that keep things interesting for more experienced players. Add free spins, expanding symbols and the chance to win up to 5,0000x your stake, and you’ve a game that really represents Play’n Go at its very best.

Top Alberta mobile casino apps
Most Alberta online casinos are designed with mobile users in mind, offering either dedicated apps or fully optimized mobile browser experiences.
Among our top picks, Jackpot City easily takes the crown for the best Alberta casino app. It provides a smooth, user-friendly experience with intuitive menus and a sleek design, making it easy to find your favourite slots, live games, or table games on the go. Everything loads quickly, and navigation feels effortless.
While Spinbara is our top, overall pick for the best AB casino, it unfortunately doesn’t come with a native app you can download for iOS or Android.
However, the mobile casino works well on both Safari and Chrome, providing a solid online casino experience without a standalone app. While it's not quite as convenient as an app, the site's functionality remains intact, making it a viable option for mobile play.
Best payout Alberta online casinos
High-payout casinos offer players a better return on their wagers, making them a popular choice among experienced and new gamblers alike. These casinos have a higher Return to Player (RTP) percentage across all their games, meaning a greater portion of bets are returned as winnings over time.
When looking for a good high-payout casino, it's crucial to also focus on factors like fast cashouts, low minimum deposits, and transparent payout policies. Our top-rated casinos also provide lots of banking methods, which makes it easy to get your hands on your winnings quickly.

Alberta iGaming market regulations and news 2025
Latest update September 2025:
Bricks-and-mortar casinos in Alberta are now free to serve alcohol around the clock, with the launch of a pioneering pilot scheme in the province.
The move, as reported by Lethbridge News Now, will see twelve casinos extend their bar-opening hours to match their gaming hours.
Casinos now offering 24-hr bars in Alberta are PURE Casino Calgary, Deerfoot Inn & Casino Calgary, Ace Casino Blackfoot Calgary, Ace Casinos Airport Calgary, Grey Eagle Casino Calgary area, PURE Casino Lethbridge, Cash Casino Red Deer, River Cree Edmonton area, PURE Casino Edmonton, PURE Casino Yellowhead Edmonton, Great Northern Casino Grande Prairie, and Rivers Casino Fort McMurray
The scheme will initially run for six months. To meet the licensing conditions, casinos are not permitted to offer discounts during the extended opening hours and are only allowed to serve alcohol in areas where gaming is conducted.
Ruling clears way for legal iGaming in Ontario
Alberta has moved a step closer to a regulated online casino sector, with the news that the Legislative Assembly of Alberta has passed the iGaming Alberta Act.
Bill 48 was passed without amendments on the third reading and now only requires Royal Assent to be enacted.
Under the framework proposed by the Act, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis will be empowered to regulate the commercial gaming in the province and will continue to oversee Play Alberta.
Pending Royal Assent, online casinos could be legalized in Alberta by Q2 2026.
Delays to launch of regulated betting market
Alberta has decided to delay the launch of its regulated online gaming and betting market. It was originally planned for late 2024 or early 2025, but it’s been announced that the province wants to establish a comprehensive iGaming strategy that ensures fairness, transparency, and the protection of its residents beforehand. The AB government will continue working with industry stakeholders to refine the model and align it with regulatory priorities. A new strategy is expected to be presented later in 2025.
US tariffs in Canada
In response to the U.S. government's recent imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum products, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) has suspended the purchase of gaming machines from US-based manufacturers.
Responsible gaming in Alberta
Alberta has cancelled funding to the Edmonton-based Problem Gambling Resources Network (PGRN). The group had been operating since 1993 and the government funding provided around 95% of it’s annual income. The rationale for this cut was that PGRN did not provide direct services within Alberta's sports betting market.
If you’re concerned about problem gambling, there are plenty of other organizations you can turn to like the Alberta Health Services, the Responsible Gambling Council as well as further problem gambling support groups in and around the province. Have a look at our section on keeping gaming online fun and safe below.
Be careful of scams - March 2025 update:
Fraudulent casino ads are circulating on social media, targeting players in Ontario, New Brunswick, and British Columbia. While Gaming News Canada didn’t report any scam ads appearing in Alberta, similar fake casino promotions were spotted last January.
These deceptive ads mimic legitimate casinos but exist solely to take your money. To stay safe, avoid clicking on social media casino ads. Instead, visit the casino’s official website directly or explore our trusted reviews and guides to find secure, legal options in your province.
Current status:
Alberta's iGaming market is undergoing significant regulatory changes. The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) oversees all gambling activities under the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act. In May 2024, the passage of Bill 16, the Red Tape Reduction Statutes Amendment Act, affirmed the provincial government's authority to manage gaming operations, setting the stage for market expansion.
Subsequently, Alberta announced plans to introduce enabling legislation in spring 2025 to allow private iGaming operators to enter the market, aiming to improve competition and player choice. At present, the top Alberta casinos are actually international sites that accept AB players. This legislation would likely change that.
This shift mirrors Ontario's open-license model, indicating a trend towards a more competitive and diverse online gambling environment in Alberta. However, for now we'll have to follow the developments closely and see how the legalities progress.

How we rate Alberta online casinos
We pride ourselves on a rigorous rating process to ensure every Alberta casino we recommend meets the highest standards of safety, fairness, and player experience. Each casino undergoes thorough checks, from licencing and independent audits to data encryption and secure banking options.
We also evaluate game quality, mobile optimization, bonuses, and customer support to guarantee an enjoyable gaming platform. Only casinos meeting these strict criteria earn our endorsement and get recommended to you.
Learn more about how we rate online casinos below:
There are thousands of online casino games available, but we want you to have access to those that have the best graphics, unique gameplay features and high Return to Player (RTP) percentages to give you the best chance of winning.
Our recommended online casinos provide hundreds of games across multiple categories, including slots, table games, live dealer titles, and jackpot slots. We also check the games' quality and look for sites that provide games from leading developers like Microgaming, NetEnt, and Pragmatic Play.
Bonuses allow you to play your favourite casino games without risking much of your own money. Our experts look for Alberta casinos that offer generous welcome bonuses and promos with fair and transparent T&Cs, so you get the best value.
You need to know that your financial information is in good hands when gambling online. We only choose online casinos in Alberta that welcome trusted payment providers like Visa, Mastercard, and Interac, so you can confidently make deposits and withdrawals.
Our experts know you don't want to play at casinos with long withdrawal speeds or high fees, so we assess the casino's payout process to ensure you can cash out quickly and pay little or no fees.
All our recommended casinos are approved by reputable licensing bodies such as the Malta Gaming Authority to ensure you're protected against the risk of fraud, unfair gaming and data breaches. Any operator that welcomes third-party testing from agencies like eCOGRA gets our seal of approval.
We also take a deep look at the security measures in place to protect Alberta players. An operator needs to provide SSL encryption, firewalls, and strict privacy policies to make our toplist.
Many online gamblers enjoy playing on the move, so we look for sites with a solid mobile casino that uses HTML5 technology to ensure seamless gameplay. We also check whether players have access to the same library of games on mobile as they would on desktop.
Many of the best Alberta online casinos now provide native apps that you can download on iOS and Android. If the casino offers an app, we ensure it's intuitive and has personalization features like bonus notifications and Face ID or Touch ID for increased security.
If you encounter problems while gambling online, you want customer support to respond to your query quickly. Our expert review team looks for operators who offer 24/7 support across various contact methods like live chat, email, and phone. We also consider how they deal with queries to ensure you're talking to an informed professional rather than someone reading from a script.
Our experts also appreciate online casinos with detailed FAQ sections sorted by category to help you find answers to questions quickly.
Alberta casinos to avoid
Staying vigilant when dealing with online casinos is crucial, especially when real money is involved. While there are many reputable sites, some casinos operate with unfair practices, lack proper licencing, or provide poor security, risking your funds and data. To make sure our users are safe, we have thoroughly vetted all recommended casinos on this page.
Additionally, we maintain a blacklist of sites to avoid due to issues such as unfair games, delayed payouts, or predatory terms. By choosing only trusted, reviewed sites, you can enjoy your gambling experience without unnecessary risks. Check out our blacklist to make sure you're sticking to the right sites.
