What’s new this June?
Glorion holds steady at number one in Alberta this month, with Golisimo retaining second place. Newcomer BetScore lands straight in at number three — a strong debut backed by a huge 14,000+ game library — sending Spinbara off the list entirely.

Casinos our experts keep coming back to
We've tested dozens of online casinos available to Alberta players, focusing on which sites pay out more, crypto-friendly banking, and huge game variety. Here are the three we keep coming back to.
26th May, 2026
Glorion
Launched in 2025
Best for higher-than-average returnsWelcome offer 300% up to $6,000 + 250 Free Spins
Glorion's 98.34% site-wide RTP sits well above the 96% Canadian industry benchmark and edges out Golisimo's 97.85% by nearly half a point — a gap that adds up fast across hundreds of spins. With 10,000 games from 95+ studios, you've got plenty of room to find the high-RTP titles pulling that average up.
This casino is best for Alberta players who want better-than-average odds without giving up choice of games.
⭐ My tip: A 98% RTP slot can still drain your balance if volatility's high. Stick to low or medium volatility titles if you want that return rate to show up inside a single session.
Pros
$10 minimum deposit accepted
15% daily cashback returns a share of net losses
340+ jackpot games including Coins of Ra
115+ Megaways slots like Lady Wolf Moon
Cons
No RTP filter to sort the 10,000 games
No per-game RTP shown in slot info panels
Golisimo
Launched in 2026
Best Alberta casino for cryptosWelcome offer 300% up to $3,750 + 300 Free Spins
Golisimo supports 15 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Tron, and Tether — well ahead of JackpotCity and Spin Casino, which both stop at four. Most coins clear deposits in under a minute, and every crypto withdrawal processes instantly. Fiat sits alongside, so you're not locked in.
This casino suits Alberta players who've had Canadian-issued cards declined at offshore sites and want a payment route that doesn't depend on bank approval.
⭐ My tip: Bitcoin's $90 minimum withdrawal is the highest on the menu. Ethereum and Dogecoin both let you cash out from $20, so use those for smaller wins.
Pros
15 coins, more than most Alberta rivals
Tron and Tether rarely supported elsewhere
Fiat payments supported alongside crypto
Crypto users qualify for the welcome bonus
Cons
No ongoing crypto-specific bonuses, unlike BetPRIMEIRO
No demo mode for logged-in players
BetScore
Launched in 2026
Best for game library depthWelcome offer 350% up to $25,500 + 200 Free Spins
At 14,000+ games across 95+ providers, BetScore carries more than four times the typical Canadian catalogue of around 3,000 titles. New releases land weekly from studios like Spinomenal and Playtech, so the catalogue keeps growing rather than recycling the same headline slots.
This casino suits Alberta players who play regularly and want a catalogue that keeps surfacing new titles months after signup, not just on day one.
⭐ My tip: Use the providers filter before the genre filter. Sorting 14,000 games by provider cuts the catalogue to a manageable shortlist far faster than scrolling slot categories.
Pros
775 Spinomenal and 646 Playtech titles
395+ live dealer titles, ahead of Glorion's 330+
Wonderpot jackpot pool exceeds $1.5M across tiers
Enter monthly tournaments for cash or token prizes
Cons
Launched 2026, no track record yet
Curaçao licence, weaker recourse than Kahnawake
Which Alberta casinos pay out the most?
High-payout casinos offer players a better return on their wagers, making them a popular choice among experienced and new gamblers alike. These casinos have a higher RTP percentage across all their games, meaning a greater portion of bets are returned as winnings over time.
When looking for a good high-payout casino, it's crucial to also focus on factors like fast cashouts, low minimum deposits, and transparent payout policies. Our top-rated casinos also provide lots of banking methods, which makes it easy to get your hands on your winnings quickly.
| Casino | Minimum deposit | Payout time | RTP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glorion | $10 | 0-3 days | 98.34% |
| Golisimo | $20 | 0-3 days | 97.85% |
| BetScore | $10 | 0-3 days | 97.82% |
| BetPRIMEIRO | $30 | 0-10 days | 97.84% |
| Jackpot City | $1 | 1-3 days | 98.21% |
Our top app picks for playing on the go
JackpotCity leads the pack as our top mobile casino pick this June, delivering a seamless, intuitive experience whether you're spinning slots or joining a live table.
See how our top-rated casino apps stack up below:
| Casino | App store rating | Downloads | Standout feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🥇JackpotCity | 4.5/5 (Apple App Store) | 10k+ downloads (Google Play) | Mobile-exclusive games |
| 🥈Spin Casino | 4.3/5 (Apple App Store) | 100+ downloads (Google Play) | Access to full games library |
| 🥉Spinbara | 4.3/5 (Google Play) | 1k+ downloads (Google Play) | Easy to navigate |
💡While Glorion is our top, overall pick for the best AB casino, it unfortunately doesn’t come with a native app you can download for iOS or Android.
However, the mobile casino works well on both Safari and Chrome, providing a solid online casino experience without a standalone app. While it's not quite as convenient as an app, the site's functionality remains intact, making it a viable option for mobile play.
Alberta's slot scene: top games and tips
Not sure what to play? Or maybe you're just keen to see which slots are really making waves at the moment? We've got you covered. Taking in universally loved classics, personal favourites, simple-to-grasp games and more strategic titles, here's what's hot in AB right now.
June's standout slot
Fortune of Olympus
- RTP 96.6%
- Bets $0.20 - $240
- Max win $10,000
Fortune of Olympus is a high volatility slot from Pragmatic Play, with random multipliers up to 500x and wins of up to 10,000x your bet. Trigger free spins and those multipliers stack up fast.
Five slots our experts love right now
Slots dominate online gambling in Alberta thanks to their engaging themes, large jackpots, and simple gameplay mechanics. From classic three-reel games to immersive video titles with complex features and progressive jackpots, there are online slot games to suit all tastes.
Try something new: browse our game library
Did you know that the best online casinos offer an extensive range of slot games? If you're unsure of what to play, discover an impressive selection of slots in our free games arcade and our most popular slots below.

Starbust - NetEnt
A personal favourite and an all-time staple of video slots, Starburst is known for its low volatility, vibrant graphics and its 5 reels and 10 paylines, paying both ways. The game features expanding wilds that trigger respins, providing frequent small wins. Bets range from $0.10 to $100, with a maximum win of 500 times the stake. The RTP is 96.09%, putting Starburst just above average for online slots. It's a great game for beginners.

9 Masks of Fire - Gameburger
Gameburger isn’t as well as known as Pragmatic Play and Apricot. But with more solid games of the pedigree of 9 Masks of Fire, that might not be the case for too much longer. In essence, this is an easy-to-grasp slot with clear bonus and straightforward paylines. The game’s RTP of 96.24% and the chance to win 2000x your stake keeps things exciting. It’s just a shame the soundtrack of jungle drums is so repetitive. But I can overlook that minor annoyance, given that this slot gets so much else right.

Buffalo - Aristocrat
With 1,024 ways to win and a max payout of up to 7,600x your bet, Buffalo is surely one of the best slots to win real money in Alberta. Although the visuals are a bit dated, Buffalo has a nice, uncluttered layout. With numerous paylines and low variance, this is a good choice for players who don’t want to risk too much but like the feeling of regular wins. Meanwhile, the bonus round and the promise of bigger wins is engaging enough to keep things exciting for anyone willing to up their stake a bit.

Gates of Olympus Super Scatter - Pragmatic Play
The Greek Gods may or may not smile on you in this life. But even if they don’t, Pragmatic Play’s high volatility Gates of Olympus Super Scatter is a really exciting ride while it lasts. That’s largely down to the 96.5 RTP rating and the chance to win a whopping 50,000x your bet. To keep things fresh for new players, this addition to the Gates of Olympus series features a new Super Scatter symbol that allows you to trigger free spins. I love this series and if you’re a fan, or even if you're not, you’re in for a good time here.

Book of Dead - Play'n GO
Ancient Egypt, Indiana Jones-style high adventure and engaging, high-volatility gameplay come together in this storied and ever-popular slot. Casting you as explorer Rich Wilde, Book of Dead features simple, beginner-friendly mechanics, alongside high-paying combos and bonus triggers that keep things interesting for more experienced players. Add free spins, expanding symbols and the chance to win up to 5,0000x your stake, and you’ve a game that really represents Play’n Go at its very best.
Deposit and withdraw, your way
The best online casinos in Alberta provide you with extensive and secure payment options for deposits and withdrawals when it comes to real money casinos. These typically include Visa and Mastercard, bank transfers and even e-wallet and crypto payments.
So if you're ready to switch from free games to real money wins, decide which of these popular payment methods you feel most comfortable with and give it a try. More about each payment method can be found here.
| Credit cards | Use your Visa or Mastercard to enjoy low transaction fees |
| Bank transfer | Schedule a wire transfer to make deposits and withdrawals extra secure |
| e-wallets | Keep your financial info safe by creating a buffer between your bank and casino, I really recommend Interac |
| Prepaid cards | Stick to self-imposed deposit limits by going the prepaid route |
| Cryptocurrency | Lets you deposit & withdrawal super-fast. Litecoin’s my favourite; it’s widely accepted & often has a lower min withdrawal limit than Bitcoin |
What it takes to earn our recommendation
We ensure that any regulated online casino in Alberta goes through our rigorous rating process. Meeting the highest standards of safety, fairness, and player experience. Each casino undergoes thorough checks, including licensing, independent audits, data encryption, and secure banking options.
We also evaluate game quality, mobile optimization, bonuses, and customer support to guarantee an enjoyable gaming platform. Only casinos meeting these strict criteria earn our endorsement and get recommended to you.
Learn more about how we rate online casinos below:
There are thousands of online casino games available, but we want you to have access to those that have the best graphics, unique gameplay features and high Return to Player (RTP) percentages to give you the best chance of winning.
Our recommended online casinos provide hundreds of games across multiple categories, including slots, table games, live dealer titles, and jackpot slots. We also check the games' quality and look for sites that provide games from leading developers like Microgaming, NetEnt, and Pragmatic Play.
Bonuses allow you to play your favourite casino games without risking much of your own money. Our experts look for casinos that offer generous welcome bonuses and promos with fair and transparent T&Cs, so you get the best value.
You need to know that your financial information is in good hands when gambling online. We only choose online casinos that welcome trusted payment providers like Visa, Mastercard, and Interac, so you can confidently make deposits and withdrawals.
Our experts know you don't want to play at casinos with long withdrawal speeds or high fees, so we assess the casino's payout process to ensure you can cash out quickly and pay little or no fees.
All our recommended casinos are approved by reputable licensing bodies such as the Malta Gaming Authority to ensure you're protected against the risk of fraud, unfair gaming and data breaches. Any operator that welcomes third-party testing from agencies like eCOGRA gets our seal of approval.
We also take a deep look at the security measures in place to protect players. An operator needs to provide SSL encryption, firewalls, and strict privacy policies to make our toplist.
Many online gamblers enjoy playing on the move, so we look for sites with a solid mobile casino that uses HTML5 technology to ensure seamless gameplay. We also check whether players have access to the same library of games on mobile as they would on desktop.
Many of the best online casinos now provide native apps that you can download on iOS and Android. If the casino offers an app, we ensure it's intuitive and has personalization features like bonus notifications and Face ID or Touch ID for increased security.
If you encounter problems while gambling online, you want customer support to respond to your query quickly. Our expert review team looks for operators who offer 24/7 support across various contact methods like live chat, email, and phone. We also consider how they deal with queries to ensure you're talking to an informed professional rather than someone reading from a script.
Our experts also appreciate online casinos with detailed FAQ sections sorted by category to help you find answers to questions quickly.
Alberta iGaming: the latest news and updates
Latest update June 2026:
Alberta's regulated iGaming market now has an official launch date: July 13, 2026. The date was confirmed by Service Alberta Minister Dale Nally, with 28 operators — including BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet and theScore Bet — already registered and expected to go live on day one.
Alberta's Red Tape Reduction Minister travelled to US gambling hubs to forge stronger relationships with the industry's biggest operators. Dale Nally's trip was also billed as a fact-finding mission, seeking advice on how to best implement Alberta's move to a regulated casino sector and how to support its burgeoning blockchain companies. He met with US regulators and industry leaders to explore opportunities for investment and uncover best practices for a lean regulatory framework that still safeguards consumers.
Bricks-and-mortar casinos in AB are now free to serve alcohol around the clock, with the launch of a pioneering pilot scheme in the province.
The move, as reported by Lethbridge News Now, will see twelve casinos extend their bar-opening hours to match their gaming hours.
Casinos now offering 24-hr bars in the locality are PURE Casino Calgary, Deerfoot Inn & Casino Calgary, Ace Casino Blackfoot Calgary, Ace Casinos Airport Calgary, Grey Eagle Casino Calgary area, PURE Casino Lethbridge, Cash Casino Red Deer, River Cree Edmonton area, PURE Casino Edmonton, PURE Casino Yellowhead Edmonton, Great Northern Casino Grande Prairie, and Rivers Casino Fort McMurray.
The scheme will initially run for six months. To meet the licensing conditions, casinos are not permitted to offer discounts during the extended opening hours and are only allowed to serve alcohol in areas where gaming is conducted.
Alberta has moved a step closer to a regulated online casino sector, with the news that the Legislative Assembly of Alberta has passed the iGaming Alberta Act.
Bill 48 was passed without amendments on the third reading and now only requires Royal Assent to be enacted.
Under the framework proposed by the Act, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis will be empowered to regulate the commercial gaming in the province and will continue to oversee Play Alberta.
Pending Royal Assent, online casinos could be legalized in the province by Q2 2026.
Alberta has decided to delay the launch of its regulated online gaming and betting market. It was originally planned for late 2024 or early 2025, but it’s been announced that the province wants to establish a comprehensive iGaming strategy that ensures fairness, transparency, and the protection of its residents beforehand.
The AB government will continue working with industry stakeholders to refine the model and align it with regulatory priorities. A new strategy is expected to be presented later in 2025.
In response to the U.S. government's recent imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum products, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) has suspended the purchase of gaming machines from US-based manufacturers.
Fraudulent casino ads are circulating on social media, targeting players in Ontario, New Brunswick, and British Columbia. While Gaming News Canada didn’t report any scam ads appearing in Alberta, similar fake casino promotions were spotted last January.
These deceptive ads mimic legitimate casinos but exist solely to take your money. To stay safe, avoid clicking on social media casino ads. Instead, visit the casino’s official website directly or explore our trusted reviews and guides to find secure, legal options in your province.
Current status:
Alberta's iGaming market is undergoing significant regulatory changes. The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) oversees all gambling activities under the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act. In May 2024, the passage of Bill 16, the Red Tape Reduction Statutes Amendment Act, affirmed the provincial government's authority to manage gaming operations, setting the stage for market expansion.
Subsequently, Alberta announced plans to introduce enabling legislation in spring 2025 to allow private iGaming operators to enter the market, aiming to improve competition and player choice. At present, the top casinos available in the province are actually international sites that accept AB players. This legislation would likely change that.
This shift mirrors Ontario's open-license model, indicating a trend towards a more competitive and diverse online gambling environment in AB. However, for now we'll have to follow the developments closely and see how the legalities progress.
How will the new rules protect players?
One thing we already know about the forthcoming regulation of the Alberta market is that we’ll see the implementation of a centralized self-exclusion tool. I’d expect this to apply to all online gaming sites, as well as land-based casinos and racecourses.
It’s a welcome move from the authorities, given that research shows that when combined with treatment, self-exclusion tools can be a very effective way to stop problem gambling.

Players must verify their age and identity to access online casinos. Access is typically through web browsers or dedicated mobile apps, depending on the casino.
To comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations, players may be required to provide:
Proof of identity: Government-issued ID such as a driver's license or passport
Proof of address: Recent utility bill or bank statement.
Payment method verification: Documentation confirming ownership of the deposit method used.
The actual verification process varies depending on the casino.
Player protection measures include:
Licensing and regulation: The AGLC oversees PlayAlberta.ca and guarantees compliance with provincial laws. Other governing bodies regulate international sites.
Data security: Use of SSL encryption to protect personal and financial information.
Fair gaming: Regular audits by independent bodies to ensure game fairness.
Responsible gambling tools: Features like self-exclusion, deposit limits, and access to support resources.
Alberta offers various sports betting options:
Sports Select: AGLC's platform for parlay betting on multiple sports.
Horse racing: Available at venues like Century Mile Racetrack and Casino.
Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS): Platforms like DraftKings and FanDuel operate, allowing players to participate in fantasy sports contests.
Recent legislative changes have paved the way for single-event sports betting, which would expand the betting landscape in the province.
In Canada, gambling winnings are generally not taxed for recreational players. However, if gambling is your primary source of income or is conducted in a business-like manner, winnings may be considered taxable. We suggest you consult with a tax professional to understand your specific situation.
As it stands, the sole regulated casino in Alberta is PlayAlberta, which is owned and operated by the Government of Alberta as a commercial enterprise. And while it offers a solid gaming experience, you’ll find a wider selection of games and payment options at offshore casinos. What’s more, you can usually expect better bonuses, too.
What's the future of online casinos in the province?
The Alberta market is going to be big when the regulated market goes live, and players are going to have plenty of options. The bigger question is how many operators will stick around in the grey area, especially when factors like tax rates come into play.

Know your limits: support when you need it
Engaging in online gaming can be enjoyable when approached with safety and sensibility. Leading online casinos in Canada offer responsible gambling tools, including deposit limits, self-exclusion options, and access to support organizations.
